Mice
House mice are adaptable creatures commonly found in various dwellings, thriving on minimal food and water. They prefer dry, sheltered environments, often seeking refuge indoors rather than outdoors. With their slender bodies measuring 6 to 9 cm and tails longer than their bodies, house mice are characterized by their pointed snouts and large ears. Remarkably inquisitive, they explore their surroundings while producing around 80 droppings daily and requiring only 3 grams of food and 3 ml of water to survive.
Rats
Rat populations are booming in the UK, likely due to less frequent bin collections. These pests are becoming increasingly common, and their larger size distinguishes them from house mice. Rats have shorter tails in proportion to their bodies, along with bigger heads and heavier builds, weighing between 250-500g, and sometimes even reaching 700g. The Norway rat is the most prevalent species encountered. While they typically live outdoors, they readily enter homes through drains and wall openings, bringing with them diseases like Leptospirosis. Unlike mice, rats are poor climbers, preferring lower levels where they search for food, shelter, and ample water. However, like mice, they constantly gnaw, urinate, and contaminate their surroundings, causing significant damage and distress.

Squirrels
Grey squirrels, members of the rodent family, share some habits with rats and mice, including a propensity for chewing that can cause significant property damage. These diurnal creatures are active from sunrise to sunset and, while they don't hibernate, they diligently store food throughout their territory for the winter months..
Introduced to the UK in the 19th century, they thrive in both urban and rural environments, including woodlands, parks, and hedgerows.
Weighing approximately 500g, these highly adaptable animals sport a shorter summer coat and a thicker winter coat.
Grey squirrels typically have one to two litters per year, each ranging from one to five young, with a breeding season spanning from February to July.
